Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 7, 2025
Hisaab ("we", "our", or "us") is a shared expense tracking app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.
1. Data We Collect
- Account information: email address and display name you provide at sign-up.
- Expense data: titles, amounts, dates, and notes you enter into the app.
- Group data: groups you create or join, and the members in them.
- Device information: basic device type and OS version for crash reporting.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and sync the app's core functionality across your devices.
- To compute balances and settlements within your group.
- To send push notifications you opt into (e.g. new expense added).
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We apply row-level security so users can only access groups they belong to.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except:
- Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure).
- When required by law or a valid legal process.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — expenses, settlements, and group memberships — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
- Access or export your data by contacting us.
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- Update your display name from within the app.
7. Children
Hisaab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
